HAVANA (Reuters) – A red-tinged sea of Cubans marched through Havana’s Revolution Square on Tuesday in a May Day parade that affirmed the government’s intention of assuring a communist future for the Caribbean island.

With President Raul Castro looking on from beneath a giant statue of Cuban independence hero Jose Marti, hundreds of thousands of workers wearing red shirts and waving red flags filed through the vast plaza where Cuba holds its biggest political rallies.

The theme for this year’s parade was signaled early when the first row of marchers carried a sign that said “Preserve and Perfect Socialism,” which has become the mantra of Cuba’s aging leaders.

Raul Castro Good Tattoo Ink, 80, has launched a series of reforms encouraging more private initiative and reducing state dominance of the fragile Soviet-style economy put in place after Cuba’s 1959 revolution.

He has said his goal is not to replace communism but to take steps to strengthen it for the future.

Lest the message was not clear, the national television broadcast of the parade focused on a sign that read “To Capitalism We Will Never Return.”

In the heavily orchestrated event, workers carried pictures of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, his revolutionary comrade Ernesto “Che” Guevara and Marxist heroes such as Vladimir Lenin and Frederick Engels.

The words “Unity and Victory” and “Long Live the Socialist Revolution” were flashed across the television screen.

Fidel Castro, who is 85 and led the country for 49 years before stepping down in 2008, did not attend the parade for the sixth straight year. The president’s older brother has said he cannot endure long periods under the tropical island’s intense sun.

President Castro, who wore a straw hat against the sun, waved and smiled at the marchers but did not speak, leaving that to Communist Party official and labor leader Salvador Valdes Mesa.

He talked of the need for greater productivity from Cuban workers and the importance of the economic reforms to communism’s future.

“The revolution and socialism are fused,” Valdes said. “Unity will be the key to preserve and consolidate the nation and the economic and social conquests (of the revolution).”

The reforms include plans to slash a million jobs from the government’s bloated payrolls and, in a break from the past, to encourage people to start their own small businesses.

The country of 11 million people now has more than 371,000 people working for themselves, according to government figures.

As they did last year, some of the self-employed, or “cuenta propistas” as they are known in Cuba, marched in Monday’s parade alongside the state workers who make up most of the island’s labor force.

Cuba’s May Day celebration always brings in labor leaders from around the world, including 1,800 from more than 100 countries this year, the master of ceremonies for the parade said.

One of them, Leonardo Lagarde of Uruguay Best Tattoo Machine, explained the attraction.

“This is the Mecca. We dream of coming on May 1 to celebrate with the Cubans, who are the light in the road for the rest of Latin America,” he said before joining the parading masses.

A Cuban doctor Tattoo Gun, Angel Felipe, agreed.

“To be here today is an honor. It’s a pride and a commitment that we should all have,” he said.

World Money Cuba

I have never really liked Mother’s Day.

On May 13 people across the country will celebrate the ideal American mother. She is a woman who is flawlessly kind, patient Tattoo Ink And Supplies, and generous. A woman who never loses her temper and will forgive her children of any mishap. A woman who will kiss all the ouchies better, make delicious meals every day, and be the perfect homemaker for her family.

I did not have this mother. It made Mother’s Day one of tension. I always knew the feelings I was supposed to have, the ones lauded in greeting cards and TV specials, but in my family they never fit. Some years I would go through the motions, hoping things would be different, but most years I simply pushed everything aside. Then Mother’s Day became just another Sunday in May.

As I grew up I came to realize that no one has this mother. While some of my friends and cousins have mothers who are fabulous, they aren’t perfect, either. They are real people. They sometimes had bad days, or said things they didn’t mean, or stepped into situations where they weren’t wanted. It doesn’t make them bad people or bad moms, just not the ideal we like to hold up and point to every time mid-May rolls around.

I am definitely not this mother. I love my kiddos to distraction. They are the most awesome thing I have ever done. But I am (like all of us) hopelessly flawed. Perfect is something I will never be, even if I tried. And due to my own “mommy issues,” even with their faces smiling up at me, Mother’s Day is always one I would rather spend concentrating on something else, or doing something my sons really enjoy.

And what about all those families that don’t fit the “Jack-and-Jill-plus-kids” model? Families where grandparents raise the children, or those with only a dad, or with two dads or two moms? What about children without parents, or those in foster care? Their lives are no less worth celebrating, but on this day they’re made to feel incomplete.

So this year I don’t think I am going to celebrate Mother’s Day. Instead, I am going to celebrate a “Family Day” with the one I have built and love. And I am going to celebrate by thinking of all those times that those boys who made me a “mom” have made me laugh and smile, complete in their amazing imperfection.

Like the time when my husband Tattoo Machine Equipment, who does all the cooking, needed to run out for something and asked me to start water for pasta. All three boys lined up in the kitchen to watch me put the pot on to boil and kept telling me how the stove worked and reminding me that Daddy would be home soon. I finally said with a laugh, “Believe it or not, guys, your mother does know how to boil water.” I don’t think any of them really believed me.

Or when our second son started preschool with his older brother in tow, and I watched another kid take a toy away from our younger son Tattoo Machine Suppliers, which made him cry. Our oldest was indignant and full-out cross-checked the other kid, took the toy, and gave it back to his brother. I tried to keep from laughing as I watched him glare at the other little boy as if to say, “Only I get to take toys away from my brother.” And luckily the mom of the other boy had multiple kids, knew the look well, and smirked at me, as I explained to my own kids that such actions were not OK.

Or the week when our middle son, then 4 years old, decided to use his middle finger to point at everything. He would laugh uproariously at the rise he could get out of the adults.

Or how one of the first phrases each of our boys learned to say was, “No Singing! No Dancing!” They always direct these commands at me and their dad when we start up our shenanigans in public. It has never worked, but they keep trying.

Or how my husband likes to add “of doom” at the end of sentences for no particular reason. For example, “We are going to go to the grocery store… of doom!” And now the boys will all insist, “Not ‘of doom,’ Dad! Not ‘of doom’!” Yeah, that one doesn’t work, either.

Or when we brought our dog home for the first time and my oldest son lay down on the floor, hugged her, looked up at us with the most sincere eyes, and said, “We have to keep her forever. I love her.”

These are the moments I love, the moments I remember, the moments I love retelling. These are the moments that make us the family we are. Not perfect, just us. And I couldn’t imagine anything better.

Parents has worked up a lengthy list of its favorite family haulers for 2010, though you won’t see too many minivans or SUVs on the roundup. Instead Tattoo Supplies, the site broke down its selections into categories like sedans, hybrids and large vehicles and arranged its picks in no particular order. We certainly can’t argue with cars like the 2010 Subaru Legacy or the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, though a few of those that made the cut had us scratching our heads.

Both the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight found favor among the Parents editors. Sure, we can respect trying to save some cash at the pump Tattoo Supplies, but those hybrid hatches don’t exactly have the space for the Boy Scouts level of preparedness that accompanies traveling with a toddler.

Other shockers include the loveable but quirky Kia Soul and the omission of the ubiquitous Toyota Camry in favor of the sportier Honda Accord. You can hop over to the Parents site to see the full list of 15 cars and CUVs for yourself.

Stolen Cadillac Escalade – Click above to watch the video after the break

Sadly Replica Tag Heuer Watches, it’s simply not possible to build an automobile that’s impossible to steal. But what we all hope for is that an automaker does all it can to make the unscrupulous thief’s job as difficult as possible. According to a report from WXYZ Action News in Detroit, General Motors full-size SUVs aren’t particularly hard to grab. In fact, the Cadillac Escalade is the insurance industry’s most hated vehicle with $146 in theft loss payments per insured vehicle Replica Sinn Watches, per year. On average Replica Calvin Klein Watches, insurance companies pay out around $11 Buy Cheap Replica Ebel Watches,934 per theft claim when it comes to the Escalade with 10.8 of the SUVs stolen per 1,000 vehicles.

Gone in 60 14 seconds, says the news station, citing a security flaw in the design of the vehicles’ steering column (sounds familiar, no?). Specifically Where to buy Replica Glashutte Watches, it seems that the little locking metal pin that is supposed to keep the aforementioned Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon locked firmly in ‘park’ (which is supposed to be a safety feature, not necessarily a theft deterrent) is rather easy to defeat by giving the column-mounted shift stalk a hard yank down.

Also cited as a contributing factor is the lack of a steering wheel lock that inhibits directional movement of the vehicle when not running. It seems that GM decided to leave off this well-known feature for a period after the introduction of ignition keys with computer chips that make it difficult to start the machines without the properly coded chip.

Combine these flaws and you end up with a vehicle that isn’t all that difficult to steal. Here’s the process outlined in the video after the break: Smash the driver-side window (which apparently doesn’t set off an alarm) and force the column-mounted shift lever into ‘neutral.’ Step two requires some help: Have a buddy with a mutually lax sense of right and wrong push you and your confiscated SUV to a deserted area and strip it of all its pricey bits and pieces. Easy-peasy lemon squeezy Replica U Boat Watches, assuming you don’t have a bothersome conscience.

According to a spokesperson for Cadillac, The General is aware of these issues and has introduced laminated glass for the side windows along with a beefed-up locking pin for the shift lever. Also, these full-size SUVs were re-equipped with locking steering wheels to make them more difficult to push without the proper ignition key. In any case, we’d suggest you keep a close eye on your blinged-out sport ‘ute… and get used to paying higher-than-average insurance premiums.
